Week in Review – January 15, 2017
It’s getting a little icy here today so what better way to spend it other than writing about video games?
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT GAMEUMENTARY?
This week was a bit slower for the site (still feels weird) as we’re working on our next round of articles. When we we’re working on the site late last year, we were doing our best to accumulate a bigger backlog of things to post, but it was already the holiday season and most of us were just too busy to really get anything substantial done.
The good news, however, is that we have a lot of great content in the works now. Looking at my list of things coming up, we have between 10 and 12 features currently in the works, and they’re all super interesting. One of the articles I have already started teasing is our big feature on the expansive lore of Obsidian’s Tyranny.
I’ve read through most of it already and it’s a super interesting interview. James should be putting the final touches on it this weekend for a release early this week. We’ve also got a couple interviews coming out this week for some very interesting games you’ve probably heard very little about yet.
One of the features covers a new type of MMO that is really unique in the fact that it features a persistent online war. The other is a turn based survival game that has already impressed other members of the press and those that have played it. You should see both of those interviews out this week.
PERSONAL GAMING UPDATE
I didn’t get a chance to play very much this week as I started my classes. Just like every other week, I’m still hooked on Rainbow Six: Siege. I cannot get enough of the game, and I’m honestly quite afraid to see how many hours I’ve put into it at this point. Might make me rethink my life choices a little bit.
I’m hoping to have some time this week to get Dishonored 2 completed before Resident Evil 7 comes out next week. Having a bit of a hard time pushing myself to complete the game, but everyone keeps telling me to keep pushing through. So I shall finish it…eventually. I still have Mafia III and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to work through as well.
I’d love to finish Mankind Divided for the story, but man do the gameplay mechanics leave a lot to be desired. I know the game is all about stealth, but the first person shooting mechanics are very mediocre and make it very hard for me to enjoy the gameplay.
Aside from all that, I’m beginning to research jobs for when I graduate college, where I want to live, you know, the fun stuff about life. If you have recommendations for where I should go for games industry PR work (outside of LA and NYC), I’m open to suggestions!
See you next week and be on the lookout for some new projects soon!
