Week in Review – April 22, 2017

Was this a busy week or what?

We’ve made a lot of changes to the site’s look and feel this week and I think it’s all for the better. This new theme has an immense amount of features to use and I also took the time to acquire some new publishing tools that will give our articles more style than they’ve ever had before.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT GAMEUMENTARY?

I stayed up till about five in the morning on Wednesday evening putting this theme together, and I’ve probably put an extra 10 to 15 hours in-between Friday and today figuring out how to use shortcodes to the fullest. Needless to say, I’m super happy with the results and we won’t be switching themes anytime soon.

As far as content goes, this week was pretty busy for us. We’ve finally released our short doc trailer on Runic Games and the reception has been pretty great. We’re excited to get the full thing out to you in just a few weeks. Since this is our very first release we’re really taking our time with it to make sure it’s the best it can be.

We’re starting to talk about crowdfunding plans, and I’ve already started talking to a few developers about setting up our next doc. If all goes according to plan, I’d like to be somewhere on the east coast filming our next doc by late June or early July.

As for written content: Sep wrote a massively wonderful piece on Telltale Games composer, Jared Johnson-Emerson. Seriously, give this thing a read if you haven’t yet — it’s super interesting. We’re having our next site meeting in the morning and will be scheduling a bunch of new features for May. We’ve got a lot of great developers already lined up and will continue adding to that list starting Monday. You will also find out our plans for whether or not we start including news on Gameumentary on Monday.

If you like the new look of the site feel free to let us know in the comments!

Yea, we can do that and a bunch of other cool stuff now.

PERSONAL GAMING UPDATE

My gaming time has been very light the past couple weeks as I’ve been finishing up my current  semester at college. I’ve gotten a few games of Seige in, but that’s about it. I plan on finishing Horizon: Zero Dawn’s story either this evening or tomorrow afternoon and I’ve also started my playthrough of a certain horror game that’s due for release this Tuesday.

As you know, I have a tendency to hide for very long periods of time in horror games. With that in mind I’m torturing myself to try and get this review done in a timely manner for you. We should be providing a narrative analysis on it as well as I can tell you already there’s some seriously %$#&’d up things that occur in this game.

Let us know in the comments what you’ve been up to gaming wise for the past couple weeks! Stay tuned for another update on Monday on what we’re doing news wise here at Gameumentary. Feel free to share your opinions on us doing news here as well. We’re taking all feedback into account.

Until next time.

  • Hammercorps

Actually looking into perhaps playing said horror game when it releases, even though the first didn’t interest me. Is the story any good at all? (If that’s something you can talk about.)

Took the week off of gaming, catching up on some other stuff since both What Remains of Edith Finch and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 are releasing on Tuesday. Did play Narcosis a couple weeks ago, actually enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. Interested to see what Sledgehammer have to show off on Wednesday too. Damn, this next week is going to be packed….

    • I’m not far enough in to judge it just yet, but it’s got me interested and creeped the hell out. You should play through the first one and Whistleblower, both very good games.

We’re currently working on a review of Narcosis and will have it up soon, along with a narrative analysis.

And as you noticed, I’m super stoked too see this new Call of Duty…that is after my 7:30 AM Theories of Communication exam on Monday morning (kill me).
