I can’t really see this response going down well with gamers…

A Eurogamer video that aired ahead of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3‘s embargo today shows a rather lengthy wait for the game to begin. A near five minute long loading screen to be exact. Not even The Witcher 3, which is undoubtedly a larger game, had load times that long.

The footage shown in the video is from the PS4 version of the game. It’s currently not known if these lengthy load times extend to the Xbox One and PC. However, a developers response on Steam’s forums indicate they just might be.

We are aware of the problem with long initial loading times, but thanks to this decision we were able to shorten any loading times during missions, respawns, and fast travel to a minimum.

– fast travel 4-15s
– load last checkpoint(depend on situation) 15-30s
– Restart mission 25s

Ultimately we feel like this inconvenience is rewarded with a comfortable experience once the game is loaded.

Based on this video there’s quite a few graphical glitches in the game. Thankfully all of that can presumably be handled with a patch or two.

We’ll have to wait and see if CI Games releases further clarification on Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3‘s load times – specifically on why the game takes that much time to load and if they plan on trying to decrease that time.

Our preview of the game was relatively lukewarm. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 releases tomorrow on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
