The developer of Lichdom Battlemage and Alekhine’s Gun has announced a new open world rally racing game with a pretty ambitious goal.
Developer Bigmoon Entertainment has announced DAKAR 18 today, an open world rally racing game which has the aims to be one of the “biggest open worlds ever made in a racing game.” Details are currently light on the project, but we do know that the game is being published by Deep Silver and features both single player and multiplayer game modes. There will even be a local multiplayer option for the game, according to this source.
If the publisher page for DAKAR 18 is anything to go by, there’s quite a bit to be excited about if you’re a fan of realism in racing games. Here’s the list directly from the source.
- Realistic navigation system
- Singleplayer and multiplayer
- Time and weather simulation system
- Sand, mud and water simulations systems
- Realistic vehicle physics system
- Huge open world with photorealistic graphics
- Rescue and repair
One feature that isn’t listed on the website for the game indicates that players can actually exit their vehicle to repair it, and then move around and explore the world on foot. This detail can be found here, but isn’t currently listed on the publisher’s page for DAKAR 18 so it may not be true, but if it is that’s a pretty cool and innovative feature for an open world racing title.
Bigmoon Entertainment has provided development support on many of the WRC titles and also the recently released Flatout 4: Total Insanity. DAKAR 18 is expected to release in 2018 on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
We’ll keep our eyes on DAKAR 18 for more details as they’re released. For now, you can check out the newly released CGI trailer for the game just below. Stay tuned to Gameumentary for continued updates on the game as we have them.
