Week in Review – February 26, 2017

Sorry for not posting one of these for the past couple weeks, been extremely busy and down with the flu. Fun stuff.

This might be a slow week for the site as we’re working on getting new features prepped and we’re planning on adding a few more writers to our staff soon. The good news is that we’ve doubled our traffic from last month already and we’re hoping that trend continues in March. We’re happy to see that the reception of our articles on Reddit has been really good thus far, with both my Mafia editorial and James’ Owlboy interview garnering well over 500 upvotes on r/games.

If you’ve been sharing our content we’re very grateful for that. There’s also been quite a bit of discussion on our posts, especially our Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 hands-on piece so we’re happy to see that as well.

We’re still working on our secret project behind the scenes as well. We’re still a couple months away from telling you what it is though, so for now you’ll just have to sit back and speculate. Sorry!

The past few weeks have been extremely busy for me. I’ve had a lot of school projects to work on, along with looking for an internship this summer. I was down with the flu all of last week so this week was spent getting caught up on all my work. Thankfully I’m all caught up now and can sort of get back on a regular schedule.

I’ve been dealing with very high amounts of stress lately, so I might be looking into getting some help for dealing with that and getting back up on my feet. Might be a little bit too much information, but essentially if you see a lack of content on the site at this point it’s due to personal things in my life dragging me down a bit.

In terms of gaming I really didn’t have much time these past couple weeks for any of that. I’m working on a Sniper Elite 4 review which I hope to have out later this week, and I plan on picking up a copy of Horizon: Zero Dawn this week. On top of that, I’ve started working through For Honor’s single player campaign, but it’s nothing to write home about.

I’m more than half-way through the first act and I have no clue what’s happening in the story…if there even is one. There’s a general premise, but the story really doesn’t seem to have any actual point to it. It’s basically what I expected it to be: a practice session for the online portion of the game. Shame.

I’ll probably post some impressions on that later this week or early next week if I have time, but I don’t think I plan on doing a full review of For Honor. I love the gameplay, but I’m not sure I actually like the game all that much.

Let us know what you did these past couple weeks and stay tuned for our next round of content this week.

  • Hope you’re doing better with your personal stuff. I don’t mind the delays on content, I know that what we do get is high-quality stuff.

I’ve been busy with my own things, but I’ve been carving out some time to work on the Crysis op-ed (I always think these things will be easier to write then they end up being,) as well as finishing up some of my backlogged games. I got a chance to play A Criminal Past DLC for Mankind Divided, which was really a quality DLC. The new environment was a blast to navigate, although the storytelling was a bit weak. A bit sad as well as it doesn’t seem likely we’re going to get another game anytime soon.

Currently waiting for the release of Torment: Tides of Numenera. I’ve cleared my gaming schedule for it, plan to dive in and get lost as soon as it releases (Almost here!)
